Sarah Saad
Sarah attended the University of Ottawa for her undergraduate studies in Psychology and graduated from the University of Ottawa´s Faculty of Law with an LL.B. in 2004. While attending law school, Sarah was involved in the Faculty of Law's Business Law Student Society, the Common Law Student Society and the Legal Aid Program.
While pursuing her law degree, Sarah worked as a paralegal at the Federal Government, within the Aboriginal Justice Directorate. Sarah´s Government experience has included dealing with Senior Federal/Provincial/Territorial Officials, Central Agencies, and Aboriginal Communities.
Sarah was called to the Ontario Bar in July of 2005. After completing her articling term with our firm, we were pleased that she chose to join our team as an associate in our Corporate Commercial Department.
Sarah is concentrating on commercial work including purchases and sales of businesses, assets and shares, secured transactions, franchising, leasing, supply and services contracts, as well as bankruptcy and insolvency. She will also be involved in advising clients on many corporate areas such as incorporations and re-organizations, acquisition and disposition of businesses, shareholders´ rights and remedies, financing and commercial real estate.
Sarah's practice encompasses intellectual property law, advising clients on issues and disputes with trademarks, copyright, and unfair competition and with respect to protecting, selling, and licensing their intellectual property.
Sarah also practices in the area of Internet Law, providing legal advice on Internet-related issues, e-commerce, licensing agreements, online speech and conduct and associated intellectual property issues, such as cybersquatting, domain names and copyright.
Sarah also advises on the quickly expanding area of digital assets and their legal significance on the corporate commercial business landscape.
Sarah is a member of the Board of Directors and volunteers on the audit committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa, and is a member of the organizing committee of the annual charity golf tournament sponsored and organized by our firm for the benefit of St. Patrick´s Home of Ottawa.
Sarah is fluently bilingual and is a member of l´Association des juristes d´expression française de l´Ontario. Sarah is also fluent in Arabic.
